A recipe for a simple chocolate cake with apples, featuring both chocolate and cocoa! Delicious, easy, and quick — the hardest part is peeling the apples! Red apple halves bake up beautifully while the cake cooks, turning out soft and tender. If you have firm green winter apples, you can microwave them for about 5–7 minutes beforehand to soften them up.
Ingredients:
- 500 g apples (I used 5 medium apples)
- 3 eggs
- 170 g sugar (1 cup)
- 100 g butter
- 50 g chocolate
- 220 g flour (2 cups, not heaping)
- 2 tsp baking powder (or 1 tsp baking soda with acid)
- 2 tbsp cocoa
- 2 tbsp cognac (or liqueur, brandy — whatever you have on hand)

How to cook chocolate cake with apples
Cut each apple in half and use a knife to cut out the core (if the apples are very large, you can cut them into quarters).

Add the flour, cocoa, and baking powder (or baking soda with acid), and mix into a dough. The dough will be fairly thick.
