
Today I'm sharing a brand-new recipe — absolutely irresistible chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting. Double the chocolate, double the pleasure! For the cupcake batter, I used both chocolate and cocoa to achieve a truly rich, deep chocolate flavor. The frosting is made with butter, cream cheese, and of course chocolate, plus a touch of coffee for an extra layer of flavor. For both the batter and the frosting, I used 56% chocolate — feel free to go higher depending on your personal taste. These turned out incredibly delicious; even though I wouldn't call myself a die-hard chocolate lover, these cupcakes were absolutely phenomenal! And as for my daughter, who is a true chocoholic — let's just say words can't describe how much she loved them! This recipe made 15 cupcakes.
Ingredients:
- Batter:
- 100 g butter
- 50 g chocolate
- 2 eggs
- 150 g sugar
- 120 g sour cream
- 100 g flour
- 25 g cocoa
- 2 tsp vanilla sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- pinch of salt
- Frosting:
- 160 g butter
- 120 g cream cheese
- 120 g chocolate
- 60 g powdered sugar
- 1 tsp coffee

How to cook chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting
Make the batter. Melt the butter, cut into cubes, together with the chocolate, broken into pieces, until smooth. The easiest and quickest way to do this is in the microwave, though a double boiler works just as well.

Place the eggs, sour cream, sugar, vanilla sugar, and salt in a bowl and beat lightly until the mixture lightens in color.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa, and baking powder. The cocoa should be high quality — very dark, rich in color, flavor, and aroma; if yours isn't quite like that, at least increase the amount. Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and beat just until combined. The batter will be fairly thick.

Bake in an oven preheated to 180°C for approximately 15–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool completely.

Make the frosting. Beat the softened butter, cream cheese, and powdered sugar together until light and creamy.

Add the pre-melted and cooled chocolate along with the coffee dissolved in one teaspoon of hot water. Beat until smooth — the frosting is ready.
