
I'd like to share a simple yet impressive pie made with mozzarella. I used store-bought puff pastry, but this shaping technique works with any other dough, including basic yeast dough. The pie is easy to make, looks stunning, and you can customize the filling to your taste — for example, by adding some finely chopped ham or something similar.
Ingredients:
- 1000 g unleavened puff pastry
- 200 g mozzarella
- 3-4 tbsp. tomato sauce
- oregano, basil
- egg (for brushing)

How to cook sun pie with cheese
Cut out two circles by tracing a plate or a lid — mine were 22 cm in diameter. I had 1 kg of dough, which is just about enough for two large circles. Any scraps can be used to make small puff pastry bites. Place the first circle directly onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Spread with tomato sauce or tomato paste. Sprinkle with oregano and basil (about one-third of a teaspoon each).
