Braised Cabbage with Hot Dogs

Peel the onion and finely chop it.

Finely shred the green cabbage.

Pour vegetable oil into a large heavy-bottomed pot. Sauté the onion for 5 minutes until translucent.

Add the cabbage and stir to combine. Cook over medium heat, covered, for 20 minutes (add a splash of water if needed).

Add the tomato paste, season with salt and pepper, and stir well. Continue to braise for another 20 minutes, until the cabbage is fully cooked.

Remove the casings from the hot dogs and slice them into rounds about half a centimeter wide.

Add a little vegetable oil to a skillet. Add the hot dog rounds and cook for 5–7 minutes until lightly browned on the bottom. Press them down with a wide spatula so they brown more evenly.

Flip the hot dog rounds and brown the other side the same way.

Add the hot dogs to the braised cabbage and stir well. Turn off the heat.

Serve the braised cabbage with hot dogs hot.
