Cut the tomatoes into large chunks.
Cut the bread into large cubes (if the bread is very fresh, you can dry it out a little first in a toaster or in a skillet).
Slice the onion into half-rings, then cut the half-rings in half.
Place the bread and onion in a salad bowl, drizzle with oil, season with salt, and toss to combine.
Add the tomatoes and toss again.
It's best to let the salad sit for a little while so the bread can soak up the oil and tomato juices.
